hold on a moment longer: 9 to be precise

Here are some Islaamic principles that helped me stay afloat during very difficult moments in my life. These principles anchor one automatically and goes farther than reminders. They act as indicators and alarm systems.Below are some of those that I have resorted to in rough times.
Also, the truth is characterized by being principled.Meaning, one of the ways to differentiate truth and falsehood is that truth has structure and principles while falsehood is flimsy with no structure- like in these aayat :

See you not how Allaah sets forth a parable? – A goodly word as a goodly tree, whose root is firmly fixed, and its branches (reach) to the sky (i.e. very high).

Giving its fruit at all times, by the Leave of its Lord and Allaah sets forth parables for mankind in order that they may remember

And the parable of an evil word is that of an evil tree uprooted from the surface of earth having no stability
[Ibraheem 14:24-26]

This means that the truth has deep roots, and is thus stable. It benefits the person, and never causes harm. And the evil has no principles to stand on; it’s flimsy.

Principle #1: Nothing you go through at any point of your life is too much for you to bear.

Allaah burdens not a person beyond his scope
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]

Principle #2:Shaytaan  only brings out the bad in you,he doesn’t create it in you. Stop using him as a scapegoat.

And Shaitan  will say when the matter has been decided: “Verily, Allaah promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves.
[Ibraheem 14:22]

Principle #3:There’s a solution to every problem. There’s a beginning after every end. There are limitless opportunities waiting to be discovered.

And whosoever fears Allaah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty).
(At-Talaq 65:2)

And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allaah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allaah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allaah has set a measure for all things.
(At-Talaq 65:3)

Principle#4:If you really want something,Allaah will guide you to it ( doesn’t have to be deen-related. It could be dunya related)

As for those who strive hard in Us (Our Cause), We will surely guide them to Our Paths . And verily, Allaah is with the Muhsinoon (good doers).
(Al-‘Ankabut 29:69)

Principle #5: Circumstances don’t make you, they just reveal your nature. Meaning, you have the power to overcome adversity, and you have the responsibility to own up to consequences of choices you make.

Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: “We believe,” and will not be tested.
And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allaah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars
(Al-‘Ankabut 29:2-3)

Principle#6: People and Jinn only overcome one due to a weakness in Tawheed

And indeed she did desire him and he would have inclined to her desire, had he not seen the evidence of his Lord. Thus it was, that We might turn away from him evil and illegal sexual intercourse. Surely, he was one of Our chosen, guided slaves. (Yusuf 12:24)

Ibn Taymiyyah explains ( how Yusuf managed to refrain from giving into adultery) :

So the reason given for his being turned away from evil and indecent acts was that he was from the chosen servants of Allaah and it is about such servants that Allaah, tacaala says:

Verily! My slaves you have no authority over them. And All-Sufficient is your Lord as a Guardian. (Al-Isra 17:65)

The Prophet [sallAllaahu alayhi wasallam ] said:

Truly in the body there is a morsel of flesh which, if it be whole, all the body is whole and which, if it be diseased, all of it is diseased. Truly it is the heart.

This is the reason why the first thing the Prophets called to was Tawheed, because the worst evil -shirk-stems from the heart, and the biggest good comes from the heart.

Principle#8: If Allaah gives you a heavier load,He also gives you a stronger back:

And We made their hearts firm and strong when they stood up and said: “Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, never shall we call upon any ilaah (god) other than Him; if we did, we should indeed have uttered an enormity in disbelief.
(Al-Kahf 18:14)

Principle#9: When your heart changes for the better,Allaah changes everything around you

Allaah has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to (the present rulers) in the earth, as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practise their religion, that which He has chosen for them . And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (provided) they (believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. But whoever disbelieved after this, they are the Fasiqoon (rebellious, disobedient to Allaah).
(An-Nur 24:55)
